Robert wants to be a Sub Station Operator for Edison. You know all of the fenced off area's randomly throughout the city that you don't really notice, but they have signs that say: Edison Substation on the sign on the gate? There are machines and towers behind those gated walls and well Robert wants to run one of those - and eventually manage several in a region.
This takes a lot of work, they don't just let you bid for the job and then give it to you when there is an opening. He has to pass a 3 part test, then go to school for 9 months, then do an apprenticeship for another 3 months. Well he passed the 1st part of the test quite some time ago - the battery part. He just completed his 4th attempt at the 2nd part, the technical part - the electrical theory and electrical math / physics part. He went in feeling great and prepared, he came out feeling great and accomplished.
This particular job will be unbelievable for our family in so many ways. Once he's completed the year of school and apprenticeship he'll start going on rotating shifts of 12 hours. He'll work x amount of days one week, then it will switch, then it will be days, then nights, then swing for about 2 months at a time. Robert's brain needs this. He did that for years and he loved it - it's a perfect match.
Wwwwweeeellllllll - he got his test results back today.
Needed to pass: 81
Robert's test score: 80.
The school starts in January or May, and we were really hoping to get in the January one. He may be able to take the test again one more time before January. Then the only thing left is the stress test - or action scenario where they watch how he will handle certain situations.
He's not feeling so great today. Poor guy.
